Slow Fashion October: Known

MakingLiz TubmanComment

This week's slow fashion October theme is known, which means focusing on sustainable/traceable resources and products.

I'm taking this opportunity to share some of my favorite yarns to knit with and small sewing pattern designers.  These are the sources and materials I didn't know existed a couple of years ago, and discovering them literally opened up a whole new creative world for me:

Yarns:

Brooklyn Tweed | Beautiful U.S. grown, processed  and dyed wool

Quince + Co. | A wonderful and affordable range of natural fibers all produced in the U.S.

The Fibre Co. | Artisan yarns in a range of fiber combinations

Stonehedge Fiber Mill  - Shepherd's Wool | Wonderfully soft wool produced in Michigan

I'm also dying to try out Snoqualmie Valley, Heirloom Romney, Camellia Fiber Co. yarns, and Hole & Sons wool!

Knitting Supplies:

Fringe Supply Co.

Twig + Horn

Indie Sewing Pattern Designers:

Grainline Studio

True Bias

Deer + Doe

Sewaholic

Colette Patterns

Hopefully there's some new discoveries in this list for you - I can personally vouch for almost all of these sources since I've had a chance to use most of them in my own making!
