Knit: Orlane's shawl recipe

MakingLiz TubmanComment

One of my October knitting projects is finished, hooray!  I knit a birthday shawl for my sister using Orlane's textured shawl recipe and some beautiful Madelinetosh yarn.  This was a FUN knit! I used Karen's post on the Fringe Association and a garter tab cast on tutorial from Stephen West when planning out my version of the shawl.  I've sketched and swatched a few ideas for designs of my own, but this "recipe" was the perfect opportunity to play around with the design without having to start from scratch.

The only thing I wish I would have done was calculate the gauge and yardage I was working with; I wanted to include another section of garter at the end to mirror the top of the shawl but ran out of yarn.  Even so, I'm happy with how it turned out and my sister loved it.  I may have to knit another one for myself very soon!
