Sew: Penny Raglans

MakingLiz TubmanComment

I did some super last minute sewing before I left for vacation last month.  I finished two Penny Raglans the night before my mom and I left for Montana.  You can. not. go wrong with Grainline Studio!  These were a snap to put together; the only hard thing was telling the right from wrong side of the knit on this fabric!  If you've made a Scout Tee or a Hemlock, you can definitely sew this one with no problem.

I bought 2 yards each of two different colors of this stretch rayon from Fabric.com and it worked out beautifully.  You definitely want a knit with some good drape for this pattern!  I just used my regular Singer sewing machine to sew these guys; I always use a ball point needle and a small zigzag stitch.  I finished the seams with a larger zig zag to bind the edges a bit and they've successfully made it through the gentle cycle of the wash.

My Penny Raglans were perfect vacation wear and I'm layering them up to wear to work in this warm start of September as well!

Pattern: Penny Raglan from Grainline Studio

Size: 6

Fabric: Telio Dakota Stretch Rayon from Fabric.com (I used chartreuse and blush).

Mods: none; except for sewing with knits on a regular sewing machine
