Sew: Quilted Pillow Set

MakingLiz TubmanComment

Friends, I have taken my first steps into the quilting world!  After months of being half-done, I finally finished my quilted pillow set from Handmade Style by Anna Graham.  I love how quirky and colorful they turned out:

I had never quilted anything before making these, and while it may not be the best project for a complete beginner, between my own sewing knowledge and some tips on the actual quilting itself from my mom, they turned out to be lovely.  I think the hardest part was choosing fabric.  I bought a fat quarter bundle of April Rhodes' Bound & Wanderer collections online specifically for these pillows thinking that colors and patterns would kind of automatically coordinate with each other.  That sort of worked.  If I were to make them again, I would use a lot more neutrals and solid coordinating colors to vary the saturation of color.  But even so, I totally dig these guys, especially against my white comforter.

I think these are the third project I've finished from Handmade Style - so that means there's only like ten left since this book is amazing and I want to make all the things
